The Women’s Media Center is looking for interns who are excited about our mission. In your cover letter, please describe your interest in contemporary women’s issues; how this interest is demonstrated in your past experience and how you would like to expand upon it with Women’s Media Center. In addition, please advise us on your availability for the summer term. As we are a dynamic media organization, flexible availability and a commitment to get the job done is a must!

p.s. how do US folk distinguish between volunteering or internships? Internships don’t seem as common in Oz as the US, but I feel like there’s more distinction placed between them here. Maybe it’s just in arts, but it’s like a class naming distinction for proffesional networking purposes - between people doing unpaid work as DIY creatives and “community” artists, or doing often similar work as tertiary students starting to network more formally in hopes of future paid work.

Punk Feminist Band Le Tigre is looking for a summer intern. The internship takes place in NYC from June- August and hours are flexible. Tasks include, internet research, web maintenance and odd jobs related to our upcoming DVD release. Our dream applicant would be self motivated, organized, good at social networking and have their own computer. This is an unpaid internship but we will be happy to fill out school paperwork if you are a student. Must be able to put in 10-15 hours per week.
